Additional Information:

My professional pathway has taken me through most aspects of social work, and has then taken me into specialising as a family (systemic) therapist within a CAMHS multidisciplinary team for nearly twenty years. I have worked in private practice since 2013.

I still value my early experience in social work, since this taught me so much about the impact of a variety of disadvantages affecting people; issues to do with poverty, housing, employment, disability and societal prejudices can impact on individuals’ abilities to cope. This provides context to my thinking about mental health and therapy. Mental distress is definitely not all in the head. As well as societal issues a major area of influence is our key relationships – what we have experienced and the messages and learning that lives on from those experiences. On this basis my work explores communication in current relationships as well as exploring past influences.
