Dr Hansjee completed his medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, in 1996. He completed his psychiatric training in Somerset in 2004. He has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the NHS since 2014. He currently works as an NHS consultant psychiatrist for the Redbridge Home Treatment Team, which provides acute care for people experiencing a mental health crisis.
Dr Hansjee’s previous experience includes working with the Bromley Assertive Community Treatment Team, The Greenwich Assertive Community Team, and the Bexley Intensive Case Management in Psychosis service. He has gained extensive experience in the management of both common as well as complex mental disorders, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychosis, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and adult ADHD.
Dr Hansjee adopts a holistic approach to psychiatric diagnosis and management and carefully considers biological, psychological and social influences on psychiatric presentations. He works collaboratively with his patients, providing person-centred care and using a wide range of evidence-based interventions.
Dr Hansjee has provided medicolegal evidence in the form of psychiatric reports for the Criminal Court, the Home Office, the Mental Health Tribunal and for Immigration and Asylum appeals.
